I reserved one at the Costa Mesa Best Buy. The "list was long" so I'm not too confident in getting one this week obviously. Im going to call the Irvine / Fashion Island / South Coast stores later and see if they have any stock. Doubt it though.

I am amazed as to why we have not seen a single "imac 2011 leak" ... pics of the new imac .. pics of the box ? etc like with the iphones lol .... i'm going to be seriously depressed if i go to apple.com/uk tomorrow and still see that white iphone on there ... seriously
Unless the form factor of any given product in the Macintosh line is radically different or re-designed, leaked pictures of such products are boring and uninteresting.
Plus the iPhones are still the "New, hot thing" in Apple-land, so even a millimeter's difference in the case is a big deal.

So what? That doesn't make it an HD-DVD player. And if you think the Xbox 360 is the only piece of hardware that can upscale standard DVDs to 720p, think again.
The only thing helping the Xbox 360 right now is the fact that it's the only next-gen console on the market right now.
I clearly state it's not an HD-DVD player, nor do I say it's the only upscaling "player" out there. It IS the only game console that upscales standard DVDs at this point though.

To chose a 4G phone over an iPhone in 2011 is a poor choice and the result of marketing and nothing more. Unless you live in spot with great 4G service and never plan to leave the house, you won't see average speeds any faster than an AT&T iPhone. Not to mention your web browser won't render pages half as fast as Safari, so speed differences are utterly negated.
Plus the fact that few countries have 4G networks. Apple cares about selling worldwide and many markets aren't ready for that

I'm not a fan of this "literal graphics" fad at Apple... It's not a real calendar, it's not a real address book, and virtual ones can be better, have more functions and uses, be a completely different tool from the real ones... So why should they look the same?? Specially when people are already educated to use the software as it was...

Sadly, Vegas will cost you more for a week than SF (if you want to do it "right").
And doing San Francisco "right" is close if not more. At least in Vegas you have massive competition for your entertainment dollar. San Francisco entertainment venues is this strange, cabal like maze of approval processes with some social engineering objective hidden from the public.
Hotels, restaurants and other "substance" costs are a hell of a lot cheaper in Vegas than in San Francisco. I did Vegas for less than a grand in a week last summer just to see how far I could stretch my dollar. I ended up with free rooms, free food, complementary shows and spent my money on what matters -- booze, guns and women!

The issue isn't where something is made, it is where the profit is captured. China profits very little from producing the iPods for Apple. Frankly that is why ALL major US corporations produce product elsewhere. It improves their bottom line, which benefits the stock holders.
By being profitable, Apple ensure it has money to spend on R&D and new product development, all of which create US jobs.
And on a practical side, the last time I checked there were no credible supplies of MP3 players manufactured in the USA. In fact, a good deal of the music is from "foreign" bands. So I suppose we should all give up our MP3 players and music, because it would be good for the country, eh?
Bottom line, Apple's manufacturing/sourcing strategy is a positive reason to invest in it.

Really good to see the update (finally)... but I am disappointed they didn't bring the 24" back :(
The 27" is too big, and the resolution on the 21.5 is laughable for an upgrade of this magnitude.
The 21.5" is about the same size as the 24", just cut down to a 16:9 aspect ratio. (1920x1080 resolution instead of 1920x1200 on the old 24")
But the next iMac upgrade should be pretty amazing. (8-core base model?)
Not until Intel releases such a CPU.
Having gotten used to a 24" panel, it's hard to step down to a 21.5. Obviously, it's nice to step up to the 27", if one has the extra disposable income. The 16GB RAM is a nice reality option, especially if the default were 8GB.
I hope you don't consider getting the RAM as a BTO option directly from Apple since that would be just a waste of money. Get the 27" model and upgrade the RAM yourself.

Still no way to show week number in the calendar. It makes planning a bother for many people world wide. We need our week numbers! it's just one parameter called week Apple. And it's already there in language and text under format .

Yeah, what exactly do you know?You were stating point blank that the seizure was obviously fake, and using various random, similarly unqualified posters to back you up. Whether it was a real seizure, a panic attack, blind terror or pure acting, what does it matter? You have no way of knowing, and it is not germane to the subject. If you have seen somebody kicked hard in the head and they end up having what appears to be a seizure shortly afterwards, it is far more appropriate to offer support rather than assuming anything at all.
